Double Dragon 3: The Arcade Game for Sega Genesis (Last Updated 4/8/21)

In case you don’t know Double Dragon 3: The Arcade Game is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up. It can be played 1 player or 2 players, and when playing 2 players the 2 players don’t alternate, they play simultaneously and there’s no way to accidentally or on purpose hurt each other. There is no selecting 2 player mode at the title screen, the second player can press Start on the second controller and come in at anytime during game play.

The different ways you can play this game are: buy the Sega Genesis cartridge and it should work in any system that plays Sega Genesis games and it works great in our AtGames Sega Genesis (It has 80 built-in games but not Double Dragon 3: The Arcade Game, it works in its port to play Sega Genesis cartridges) and we’re sure it will also work with a Retron 3 and Retron 5 since those also have a port for Sega Genesis cartridges as well. The title screen of the Sega Genesis cartridge mysteriously says “Double Dragon 3 The Rosetta Stone” despite the cartridge itself saying “Double Dragon 3: The Arcade Game.” There’s also a Game Boy cartridge version of this game you can get but the only codes for it we know of are Game Genie codes and the art on the cartridge is different. And you also can buy the arcade machine; it has no codes that we know of.

If you want to beat the game single player the easiest way to do it is select the options menu then set the number of coins to maximum which is 25 coins (otherwise you would just have 15 coins) and then either wait until you run out of coins and switch to the 2nd controller and have player 2 come in (this gives you 5 more coins) or even just press Start on the second controller when you still have coins left as the first player, this gives you a total of 30 coins if used at the beginning of the game, then just let the second player sit there and get killed which takes away just 1 coin and leaves you with 29 coins and as the second player gets killed while he’s not helping you by damaging enemies he is creating a distraction for enemies which makes it easier to kill the enemies. The AtGames Sega Genesis that we use has a switch on the controllers to select if it’s for player 1 or 2 so we don’t even have to pickup the second controller to play as the second player or press Start on the second controller as the second player, we just have to flip the switch on the one controller back and forth as needed. For 2 players the coins are added together and each time 1 of the players uses a continue 1 coin is subtracted. There are 3 little shops where you can use your coins to buy stuff at a price of 1 coin per item but we find it best to just save our coins since 1 coin = 1 continue.

Hidden Options:
Press A+B+C when the brick wall with hieroglyphs scrolls past during the opening screen or at the title screen. A hidden options menu will appear where you can set the level of coins from 15 (default), 20, or 25, adjust the “sound test” (15 options), choose which “start men” (characters you want for player 1 and player 2) (4 options), and you can also turn the music off.

Some other game code websites say there are more codes than just this one but this is the only code we can get to work. Also there are no Game Genie codes for this game that we know of not only not on other game code sites but also not in the official Game Genie code book for the Sega Genesis.
