Battletoads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team for SNES (Last Updated 3/24/21)

In case you don’t know Battletoads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up, and “SNES” stands for “Super Nintendo Entertainment System.” It can be played 1 player or 2 players, and when playing 2 players the 2 players don’t alternate, they play simultaneously and there’s one mode where they can’t accidentally or on purpose hurt each other (Mode B) and one mode they can (Mode A) but unlike most 2 player games if one player runs of out lives you have to use a continue and then both players start at the beginning of the level, the player that still had lives can’t just continue on alone and also unlike most 2 player games the 2 players automatically share lives.

The different ways you can play this game are: buy the standalone SNES cartridge and it should work in any system that plays SNES games. Buy the Super 102 in 1 Multicart for SNES and it works in original SNES systems and all Retron systems except the Retron 1 (since it does not have a SNES game port) and the Retron 5 and this is what we have and it works great in our Retron 2. It’s not on the Super 100 in 1 Multicart for SNES.

The easiest way to beat the game is use the level select/ten lives code to jump to the last level (level 7-1) fight your way through the level to a hand that tries to hit you and can only be damaged by hitting it after it misses you and temporally gets stuck in the ground and then after you defeat it you fight the boss of the whole game: the Dark Queen. After defeating the Dark Queen it shows a different ending than it does when game codes are not used.

Level Select/Ten Lives:
Press Up, Down(2), Up, X, B, Y, A, Start at the character selection screen. The screen will flash briefly to confirm correct code entry. Choose a character and press Start. A level select screen will then appear. Choose a stage to begin the game with ten lives.

Extra Fighters:
Hold Up+A+B, then press Start at the player selection screen. Five, instead of three, fighters will be in reserve. Note: This code must be entered again at the continue screen.

Jump to the End:
Press Up, Down(2), Up, X, B, Y, A, Start on controller two at the character selection screen.
