Intro:

In case you don’t know “America’s Army: Proving Grounds” (2013) for PC (Personal Computer) is a FPS (First-Person Shooter) videogame where there are always 2 teams that for each team they appear to themselves as uniformed U.S. Army soldiers armed with with U.S. Army soldier weapons and the other side appears as non-uniformed Eastern European fighters armed with Eastern European (some Eastern Bloc) weapons and both armed with just modern weapons that exist in real life in the present day and the other side is always to you called the “OPFOR (Opposing Force).” This means from your view you and your team are always are U.S. Army soldiers and so fixes a feeling of guilt for playing a bad guy character on a bad guy character team shooting at U.S. Army soldiers even though just a game. It can only be played multiplayer unless you were just exploring a multiplayer map alone unless you count the training mode as single-player as there is no campaign mode. It was the 4th and last main installment of the videogame series of America’s Army which is a highly realistic and acclaimed FPS series developed by the U.S. Army to teach about the army and was always offered for free for all of the downloadable versions.

Everyone when talking about the “America’s Army” series abbreviates it the “AA” series and when talking about “America’s Army: Proving Grounds” (2013) abbreviates it “AAPG” and when talking about “Personal Computer” abbreviates it “PC” so I will too from now on in this article.

The different ways you can play the game:

While the AA series U.S. Army servers were taken down after 20 years on 5/5/22 you can still legally download it for free through the digital distribution service Steam (their website is: Store.SteamPowered.com) and then can play it multiplayer also through Steam.

In general:

For the AA series in addition to other benefits of playing videogames you can also learn lifesaving medical training. How that works is to assume the role of combat lifesaver in the game you have to 1st pass a medical training course that’s based on the actual training that soldiers in real life receive in regards to evaluating and prioritizing casualties, controlling bleeding, recognizing and treating shock, and administering aid when victims are not breathing. And there’s even 2 famous accounts of AA series players reporting using the medical training they received in the game to save lives in emergency situations in real life with 1 of those 2 accounts (by Paxton Galvanek) being especially famous as it received national news media attention and lifesaving first aid learned by players of the game likely has been administered a bunch of other times with it just not being well-known due to not getting much if any news media attention.
